(He can't help feeling like he let Steve down in not finding Bucky. As much as that was a snipe hunt, he still held out hope. Foolish of course. If SHIELD hadn't been able to find him when it had been at full strength and funding, what kind of hope did one ex-para rescue man have?)
Which leaves him as what? He'd been many things in his life so far, what was he now? A super hero like the press has labeled the team? But what was a super hero? Talk to Steve and Natasha, and it wasn't much different than being a soldier. You go in and fight the good fight, maybe help out with natural disasters, hunt down HYDRA to take them down (what was left of them), and maybe inspire?
Some days he does wonder what Steve was thinking though. He was just a guy with wings and guns, how did that compare to a super-solder, a super spy, a woman who could move things with her mind and whatever else Wanda could do, an android who could fly and all sorts of things, and a guy wearing a tank. He liked the team. Wanda and Vision were new and very green, but dedicated and learned quickly. Rhodey was a breath of fresh military air.
